Bright & District Kindergarten
Bright & District Kindergarten was established in 1974 and is positioned in beautiful Bright. The kindergarten is a large and open space, both inside and out and well equipped with a huge amount of toys and equipment accumulated over the many years for the children to play and enjoy.
Our program is based on the Early Years Learning Framework which describes the principles, practice and outcomes essential to support and enhance young children's learning from birth to five years of age, as well as their transition to school. The Framework has a strong emphasis on play-based learning as play is the best vehicle for young children's learning providing the most appropriate stimulus for brain development. The Framework also recognises the importance of communication and language (including early literacy and numeracy) and social and emotional development.
Play is a means by which children begin to make sense of their world and is therefore the key learning tool on which the program is based. Children learn to develop a sense of identity, community, wellbeing and confidence through play and interaction with their peers and educators.
Provision of play experience will provide opportunities for each child to develop their fullest potential in all areas of development: social, emotional, physical, language and intellectual.
The kindergarten offers a three year old and four year old program. Session times are as follows:
| 3 year old group Wednesday 9:00-12:00noon |
4/5 year old group This is based on a rotating model. Children will attend 3 sessions: Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday Morning sessions: 8.25am-12.00noon Afternoon sessions: 1.00-4.35pm |
