What is integration?

Integration is about doing things differently. It means no longer working in isolation. It's about having a shared philosophy and objectives – shared intent. It's about respectful collaboration with staff and families.

Why integration?

Community driven
In 2008, the Bright & District Kindergarten Committee of Management asked the Alpine Shire to initiate steps for the development of an integrated early childhood service. It was envisaged that the service would include all early childhood services such as long day care, kindergarten, maternal and child health services, toy library, playgroup and visiting specialist rooms. Since then much work has been undertaken to achieve this vision by key stakeholders including ACS. The integrated early childhood service in Bright is close to being achieved.

Better outcomes for children and families
Research shows the integration of services makes life easier and less stressful for children and families and enhances education and care accessibility through more convenient forms of delivery.

State and Federal Government policy
There are now over 100 integrated services operating in Victoria.
